Got up this morning at 9:30am, went for my mornign walk, came home and had a shower then watched a few YouTube videos to catch up on the news – the usual sources like Reuters, France 24, DW and a few others. The train ride into work was nice and it feels good to start work in the morning with a good cup of coffee – many places I’ve worked they’ve provided coffee that is so bad you may well be drinking dirty dish water but where I work it is pretty good, I guess it is the small things in life that makes life a little bit easier.

Checked to see whether Google had approved uBlock Origin Lite upgrade on the Webstore and they still haven’t made it available. It frustrates me because this is exactly what was warned would happen – if you require a extension update to be approved every time you upgrade your filters then don’t be surprised that you’re going to be inundated with extensions needing to be approved. All of this mess could have been avoided had they allowed remote filter updates like they allowed back in the MV2 days. I’ve given AdGuard another try on Safari and Chrome but it still lets through far too many ads not to mention the stalling issue that I face with a few websites – an issue I don’t experience with uBlock Origin Lite.

Just as I was typing my blog I got an email from Farmers to advise me that the two pieces of cookware that I ordered are on their way – being delivered by NZ Post and I’ve told them they can leave it at the side door because I really don’t want to have to go out to the depot to pick it up.

I’m looking forward to making use of it – the Baccarat Le Connoisseur Round French Oven will be great when cooking chilli or bolognese because i prefer to cook it low and slow. At the moment I have this weird frying pan that is a hybrid of a frying pan crossed with a pot crossed with a wok and the net result is that it does all of those roles pretty badly. The big question is what do I cook first once the order arrives – chilli or bolognese using the French oven or should I have lamb burgers and make use of the cast iron frying pan. I guess when I have my time off from work I’ll use that a time to do some home cooking given how working the unsociable hours make meals something more of a quick pit stop rather than something I can spend time enjoying without rushing.

On Monday next week (or maybe the coming week) I’m looking at going for a walk down to Petone and have a walk along the new Te Ara Tupua bike path. Personally I’d love to see them extend the bike path beyond Melling to all the way down to Silverstream or even Upper Hutt. I think if we really want to encourage alternative forms of transport then making a bike lane the is separated from traffic can provide a environment where cyclists feel safe along with encouraging people to get out and enjoy fresh air and exercise
