A rather uneventful day so far – I love working from home, being able to have a cup of coffee within arms reach or being able to sit in front of television when having dinner/lunch. I was reading through the Chrome platform status for the next version of Chrome (link) and there is some interesting things being added behind the preview flag. The interesting part is the Web MCP and how that’ll fit into things like voice assistance being able to traverse the internet and buy things that people request. The other feature is WebNN to allow models to run locally on the local NPU rather than having it sitting in the cloud. I could imagine that is something that Microsoft and Google wish to do which will push off non-premium models to end users that can be run locally and the premium users can take advantage of the larger models running in the cloud.
Safari Technology Preview 238 has been released (link) and I’m a bit disappointed that I haven’t seen any progress made in the area of Web Extensions. I hope that the reason for the lack of progress when it comes to Web Extensions is due to the developers wanting to get a Web Platform Test tool setup so that bugs and compatibility can be routinely checked against rather than implementing something and then wondering whether it is compatible with what else is out there.
Anyway, I ordered dinner tonight because it is Friday so why the hell not, from the local Mexican outlet that is fairly good value and their food is always top notch. At the moment I’m waiting for it to be delivered but once arrived I’ll have that while watching two episodes of Paradise then once that is done I’ll finish off where I left off regarding Fallout.
