All devices updated.

I spent the morning upgrading all my devices to version 27 – DFU installation on my iPhone, a reset and update on my Apple TV 4K, watch updated and both Macs are updated as well. The one thing you’ll find is that version 27 is a lot more polished than version 26 when it was released – not major changes but instead a whole lot of smaller things such as the glass effect, getting that weird floating appearance when it came side bar where as now it was gone back the way it was in previous versions.

When it comes to individual applications, everything feels more responsive, the icons are cleaner and less ‘bubbly’, copying files and completing tasks is faster than before, networking in terms of sending and receiving files over the network is faster etc. Long story short version 27 is what version 26 should have been and it always boggles my mind as to what the purpose of ‘Liquid Glass’ actually was because if one was inclined to conspiracy theories then one wonders whether it was a distraction because they failed to get Siri sorted after years of promised.

I’ve checked out WordPress with Safari 27 on macOS 27 because previously I had tried Safari 27 on macOS 26.7 – it shouldn’t make a difference but I thought it would be best to at least test it on both just in case that wasn’t the situation. The ‘daily writing prompt’ on WordPress isn’t working on Safari 27 running on macOS 27. I’ve disabled ‘cross site ‘prevent cross-site tracking’ and I even tried disabling ‘hide ip address from trackers’ and that didn’t fix it either. Maybe this is something that I either need to get over or I go back to using Chrome because it doesn’t have these ‘issues’.

Half way through this blog I moved over to Chrome on macOS 27 and there aren’t any issues so far – I’ll get around to installing it on my Mac as well. It is unfortunate that developers only seem to care about whether it works with Chrome and if you’re using something else then it is a situation of ‘it sucks to be you’. I’ll see how things progress going forward but in the mean time I’m still having a look at One NZ and 2 Degrees for a possibility of changing my internet and mobile phone provider.
