I woke up this morning at 8:30 am but I decided that I really wasn’t in the mood for a walk given the amount of walking I did yesterday. I opened up my laptop to check the news and check for any updates from Google, lo and behold Chrome had an update ready which bumped the version number from 154.0.8037.98 to 155.0.8059.40. With that update came a whole lot of security related bug fixes (link) with 247 security related issues addressed. I’ve checked my work laptop but unfortunately the IT admins appear to be playing it safe however Microsoft Edge has received an update for the 154 series however that may indicate that Edge may not receive 155 until next week.
Ubiquiti has released ‘UniFi Access Point & Wireless Bridge 8.8.11’ to their early access channel – it appears that the 8.8.x series is going to be quite a big update so I’ll be looking forward to it being released hopefully soon. There is the UniFi OS 6.0.11 series in testing but I think that it maybe in testing for a while due to it being a pretty big change to the underlying Debian distribution (I haven’t gotten a clear answer from the forum regarding whether the kernel version has been updated to the 6.x series).
I have to admit, I’ve been rather underwhelmed by some of the announcements from Labour but I’m pleased to see the most recent announcement will finally get New Zealand’s banking system to join the 21st century along side many other banking systems in the OECD (link):
It boggles my mind that it took almost 10 years to get 365 days of the year inter bank transfers working all the while Australia had the New Payments Platform (NPP) launch in February 2018 which allowed 24/7 real time transfers – instantly receiving the money rather than having to wait hours for it to arrive. There is often talk about regulations being an obstacle but in many cases the bigger obstacle are legacy systems holding innovation back for the sake of protecting vested interests.
