Finally back from work.

I woke up this morning and went for my daily walk at 9:20 am then arrived back at 11:30 am where I had a quick breakfast (protein bar and two pieces of toast) then had a shower, changed into some suitable clothes and headed off into town for work in the office. We had lunch provided by the company which made the exercise of getting into town worth while although I did bring some tomato sauce and hot sauce in just in case because the laste time we had a meal provided (fish ‘n chips) there were no condiments.

I finished work at 10:00 pm and I had a bad dash to the train station – from the 10th floor to the train station in 5 minutes and thank goodness the train conductor waited because I would have had to wait another hour for the next train, On the way home the train was pretty full – I really do wish that whoever is in charge of the train time take to keep 30 minute running times later on at night along with running it past midnight. The usual complaint is how so few people are going into town for the night life – why would anyone go out past midnight when the trains stop and the only option is an expensive cab right or ride sharing service? if you want to encourage more people to come into town then why not make trains free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday along with extending the hours of operation?

Anyway, I’m at home now and I have a Chicken Kiev cooking in the oven for dinner – a bit of a late dinnner but all I feel like is it that along with some harissa sauce on the side. I really do need to start using my air fryer because it woud allow me to cook it so much quiker but the problem is that I need to take it out of the cupboard – maybe I should move my kettle to the other end of the bench which would free up enough space between my microwave and toaster where I can just keep it that full time so then I don’t need to take it in and out of the cupboard.

On the matter of health, I got my test results back and my HbA1c came back normal along with the tests regarding my liver and kidney functions which is good. I am looking at getting a molemap done because there are a a couple of moles I want looked at – I’d sooner spend the money and find out I was being overly cautious then doing something only to find that something that was treatable is now life threatening. I guess I’m kind of having some awareness recently because of some deceased estates that have come through from customers who were around my age which kind of woke me up to getting on top of things because they spiral out of control.

While I’m waiting for my Chicken Kiev to cook I’ve been watching a few videos and it is interesting how people have made products, political party affiliation etc. the cornerstone of their identity – “I’m an iPhone person” or “I’m a Republican”. Sure, I have Apple products but it has to do with the fact I prefer using macOS over Windows, I have an iPhone because of the integration with macOS and the wider ecosystem – I choose to use it not because of it bein a status symbol but rather because it is the best tool for the job. As for the iPhone, I have it in a leather wall style case from Snakehive so if you saw it for a metre away you’d have no idea what brand or model device it is or whether it is even a phone since it looks a bit like a wallet.

This whole idea of adopting something as an identity isn’t particularly new – there were people who have long identified with a political party as something of a family tradition. Maybe that is something I can look into – maybe it has something to do with a sense of being part of something larger than oneself, a form of neotribalism, creating a community around a shared experience, a shared interest etc. Which leads to the bigger question regarding at what point does such a parasocial relationship unhealthy like we’ve seen with MAGA followers and families breaking up because of irreconcilable differences.
