Had a good day to day apart from the first customer being one of those people who need help but aren’t willing to help themselves – you can lead a horse to water but you can’t force it to drink. The one thing I learned, don’t let them get under your skin, advise the customer that you’re going to end the call and then end it – I’m not there to be someone’s emotional soundboard nor should any other customer service operator be a soundboard for people who have ‘big feelings’ and ‘big emotions’. I started the day by getting up at 11am and on Sunday I’ll push it back to 10am so then I’ll get into a good routine where on Monday and Tuesday I’ll get up at 10am (so I can go for a morning walk) then when I go back to work on Wednesday I’ll set my alarm to 9:30am so then I can get some exercise in before work.

Probably the main benefit of getting up at a decent time in the morning and going for a walk means that you can squeeze it in before work when the sun is out and the weather isn’t as cold although when I do work from home I’ll still go for a walk later on at night but there won’t be that pressure if it is particularly cold. I am interested in getting some gloves or mittens because I have a nice big and warm hoodie although some gloves to keep my hands warm will make going for a walk at high a lot more enjoyable.

It is funny how the small things that make all the difference and the one thing I really like about Keep is how the title of the note is seperate from the content like they’re two separate fields. Although I do have a bit of a preference for native applications I’ve also come to accept that in this day and age that web browsers are the run time engine of the internet in much the same way that .NET and Java were sold with the promise of ‘write once, run everywhere’ (when in reality there was the old joke ‘write once, debug everywhere’) where as modern web standards have actually delivered where .NET and Java failed.
